welcome to my internet home. this blog used to be cool, with insights about mental health, social policy, pop culture and the like. now, it's a chaotic collection of my mis-spelled, scribbled-down notes on motherhood (who has time to proof read?). it's over-ran with goldfish cracker crumbles, slobery wet kisses, and un-edited pictures. and i would have it no other way. feel free to laugh and cry along side me while I balance a practice (mental heath) and motherhood, and their interconectedness

More Summer Fun

We’ve done a lot of fun little activities at home this summer.  They’ve been simple, cheap but oddly seem as much fun as big vacations.

We set up the tent in the backyard. What a hit that was with Lyla!! We took the flashlight out one night and read stories on the air mattress.  It was so fun all snuggled up in the blankets.  We left it up for two weeks and nearly every day Lyla would grab books and go to the door.  She loves playing with the flaslight and will put it up to her mouth and make the evil laugh.  lol

We also had our favorite friends over to roast marshmellows.  Lyla loved roasting the marshmellows but only liked eating the chocolate Smile

We made several trips to The Lake on the Hill.  It’s such a fun little lake in town.  The only downside is that lots of fish seem to die and there’s no convenient parking so it’s a bugger to pack in everything.  Lyla absolutely loves sand and water and especially the combination of the two.  She spends hours digging and begging me to bring bucket after bucket full of water to dump in her hole.  On this trip we went with Jenny and kids.  They had a bucket with a spout on it that was the coolest thing ever to Lyla.  She insisted on holding the spout and my hand while we made a bazillion trips to the water. When I wasn’t filling holes with water, Lottie and I chilled under the umbrella Smile

We also made good use of our punch pass to The Aquatic Center.  We got into a routine of going at Lottie’s naptime.  She mainly slept in the stroller while we swam.  Thanks to the below floating device, Lyla can be as free and wild in the water as her heart desires.  She used to hate the lazy river because I had to hold on to her but now I just float along side her and she is as happy as could be.  Silly, crazy swimmer girl.  Lottie swam a few times and liked it too! she never cried, even when the water was a little chilly.
