welcome to my internet home. this blog used to be cool, with insights about mental health, social policy, pop culture and the like. now, it's a chaotic collection of my mis-spelled, scribbled-down notes on motherhood (who has time to proof read?). it's over-ran with goldfish cracker crumbles, slobery wet kisses, and un-edited pictures. and i would have it no other way. feel free to laugh and cry along side me while I balance a practice (mental heath) and motherhood, and their interconectedness

Viva la MEXICO

Hola! We went south of the border with my family for the fourth of July!! We spent July 3rd to July 7th in Puerto Penasco Mexico (AKA Rocky Point). The eleven hours in the cramped car was definitely worth it. Memories include: crossing the border (Mexico borders secured by machine-gun equipped men...SCARY), our amazing resort, paying THREE bucks for a can of soda, MEXICAN FOOD for every meal (nearly), swimming 24-7, humidity, sipping pina coladas, tanning, chilling out in the CABANAS, street vendors (knock-off everything!), AND OF COURSE, walks on the beach ;)

****Warning, I took a crap-load of pictures on this trip (having this blog has created a picture-taking monster; I'm possessed and can't stop!) I couldn't decide what to and to not post, so just stop looking when you get bored, fall asleep and/or begin plotting your own death.

Load em' up
On the ride there...THANKS GOODNESS for IPODS and DVD playersCrossing the BORDER!
The town-so small, so poor The POOL (p.s. I do see the irony of the last two pics)

The Mayan, another resort about 15 miles from the town. We went there one day to check out their facilities (for future reference) and to mooch of their, really cool pool. The way we got to use the Mayan pool was by J and K attending one of those time-share presentations. This is us waiting for them to get done. Without going into too much detail, things didn't go as planned, we waited forever and never got to swim :( Oh, well the pool looked pretty.
We were bored while we waited...Todd thought he needed to take pic of my AFRO that makes its appearance in humid weather. FRIENDS lovers will know what I mean when i say just call me Monica.
Another shot
On OUR balcony (that overlooks the ocean :)

We celebrated our 2-year ANNIVERSARY while we were there (since we'd just be getting home the day b4 our real anniversary). We went to the restaurant in the resort, walked on the beach, and sat along the beach and watched the FIREWORKS. It was quite romantic! Oh, yea and we had CHEESECAKE
Such nerdy LOVERS Don't ask me why but the resort did celebrate our Independence Day, but they did it on the 5th (presumably for people who only came for the wkend). The fireworks were set off by a 15 year old kid, no firemen there, and we were allowed to sit just 20 yards from the actual fireworks. THAT WOULD DEFINITELY NOT FLY IN THE US!They had these creepy people walking around all day on the "4th" at least they tried right??
We also did some seriously "swap meet' shopping. Note the TAT
All the shops that lined the beach

The girls and their TATS
Todd's new shades...yea he thinks he's tuff
He couldn't wait...
The story of this birth certificate is EPIC. We found out the NIGHT b4 leaving that we needed to have our original BC to enter back into the US. Neither of us had ours'. So, no prob for me bc I could just pick mine up the next morning. Well, getting an original from Idaho in one day is less simple. We had to have a notarized copy sent and then had Vital Stats send us the original IN MEXICO. It seriously was amazing that he got it. The bitch of it all, the border security people never EVEN LOOKED at it. bugger. Our last night :(

Farewell Mexico :)

Wow!! It's beautiful. It looks like you and your family had a great time. Isn't Mexico amazing. I love living in the mountains but I wish we lived closer to the beach.

I love all the pictures! You can't go to Mexico and not take a bazillion pictures, it would just be wrong. That trip looked like so much fun!! PS - Wendy's spicy chicken go wrap with sweet 'n sour sauce...freaking delicious! Not as good as your original spicy with the sweet 'n sour but its still pretty tasty!
